"Why I Fucking Hate Unicorns" - NEXT Digest #8

The week is all about unicorns and valuation. We have long been amazed by the drive for insanely high valuations and now even Tim O'Reilly and Mark Suster voice their opinion on how this affect the entire ecosystem. Are we misusing the word unicorn?

Maybe unicorns are not companies that are worth more than $1 billion, but companies that at first seem unbelievable. Like Google Maps, the original iPhone, Siri or even Uber.
Mark Suster writes about companies that became valuable through founders that sacrificed for years and through hard work – and partly through luck – achieved great things, not solely because the funding markets have said so.
